ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Elk Grove Thundering Herd alumnus and current Cosumnes River College catcher Noah Canter broke the Hawks’ single-season home run record with a three-home run game on April 18 against Sierra College.
Canter joined the game with 11 home runs, one shy of the record set in 2001 by Brent Cordell, but he now sits alone in school history as the home run king.
“New heights, no company-Noah Canter sits solo at the summit,” the Hawks’ social media post said.
He received praises from many on social media, including assistant coach at CRC, Scott Haynes, who quote-tweeted the post calling Canter by his nickname, “The General.”
The social media account for the Elk Grove Thundering Herd also chimed in with a quote tweet saying, “Herd alum Noah Canter is the new HR king at CRC!”
On March 19, Canter announced his commitment to continue his academic and baseball career at the University of Pacific in Stockton.
Canter said on social media, “I want to thank the man upstairs, my family, my coaches and friends for all of the support throughout my journey to get to this point. Go Tigers!”
At the time of publication, Canter leads the Hawks with 47 hits, 15 doubles, 14 home runs and 40 RBIs, and a.353/.460/.782. slash line.
The Hawks conclude their last series of the regular season this week against American River College to determine their postseason future.
