ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - In an effort to help curb food insecurity in Elk Grove, members of the Sky River Casino Team donated $3,000 and almost 900 pounds of food to the Elk Grove Food Bank.

The donations were made over the holiday season and presented last week, during a time when funds and additional food donations are sorely needed, according to a news release from the casino.

“Sky River Casino is deeply committed to giving back and supporting the Elk Grove community,” said Michael J. Facenda, president of Sky River Casino. “Our owners, Wilton Rancheria, have a longstanding partnership with the Elk Grove Food Bank.

“It’s powerful to see that now extend to our Team Members. Working together, we are making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

According to the news release, the food drive generated more than double what was collected the prior year. Every dollar donated to the food bank provides two meals to feed those in need in the local community.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sky River and their incredible team members for the generous donations collected over the past few months,” said Marie Jachino, executive director of the Elk Grove Food Bank.

“So many of our neighbors are struggling to meet basic needs and facing hunger on a daily basis. We are ever so grateful to Sky River for their support of our mission, and we look forward to continued partnership to help those who need it.”
