ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - Jash Rosal, a standout talent from Elk Grove High School, claimed victory in the 2025 Sacramento County Poetry Out Loud recitation contest held at Mather in early February.

Rosal will advance to the California Poetry Out Loud competition March 16-17, where he will represent Sacramento County.

Rosal edged out the field during a two-round competition featuring six talented participants who “captivated the audience with their unfeigned recitations” of two chosen poems.

A panel of judges evaluated each performer’s delivery, interpreting both emotion and technical skill.

Ember Hall of Natomas Charter School was named runner-up.

The Sacramento Educational Cable Consortium partners with the Sacramento County Office of Education to record the competition. The broadcast will air on March 1 and March 15 at 4 p.m. on Comcast Channell 15, AT&T U-Verse Channel 14 and Consolidated Communications Channel 21.

It will also be available on the SECC website.
