Monterey Trail Freshman Picked for National Basketball Minicamp

ELK GROVE, CA (MPG) - The freshman standout from Monterey Trail High School last season, Devaughn Dorrough, was selected by United States Basketball to participate in the Men’s Junior National Team April minicamp.
According to USA Basketball, the camp took place from April 3-6 in conjunction with the 2025 NCAA Men’s Final Four in San Antonio, Texas.
This minicamp is made up of the 2026, 2027 and 2028 graduating classes with Dorrough being one of 23 athletes that were selected from across the nation from the 2028 class. In total, 65 athletes participated in the camp.
Dorrough was selected by the Men’s Developmental National Team Committee, and he participated in on-court drills, scrimmages and a series of educational programs presented by USA Basketball and the NCAA.
“Attending this camp is a great way for athletes to continue their basketball development,” said Sean Ford, committee chair and USA Basketball’s Men’s National Team director.
Dorrough was also named as one of the top freshman basketball players in a poll conducted by Sports Illustrated.
The invitation comes after Dorrough was named to the Delta League All-League team after leading the Mustangs in total points with 482, rebounds with 269, blocks with 43 while averaging 16.1 points per game, according to MaxPreps.
Monterey Trail finished the season as co-champs of the Delta League after finishing 11-1 (24-7 overall). The Mustangs advanced to the second round of the CIF Sac-Joaquin section championships before falling to the Lincoln Trojans. They were selected to the state championship tournament and fell to the Buchanan Bears of Clovis.
At the time of publication, Dorrough has received Division I offers from the University of Washington, Sacramento State, McNeese State University in Louisiana, University of Southern California and UC Berkeley, according to his social media.
